So it was my month at our "real time" book club to pick the book. Instead of something current on the bestseller list, I opted for one I've been wanting to read for a while and just haven't had the motivation to do so - The City of Falling Angels by John Berendt. He is the author of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil which totally makes my top 5 list of favorite books so I've always thought I'd like this book.
Let me also preface by saying I haven't started the book yet. But my problem is that often times I go to the true crime section and pick something up (Devil in the White City, The Count and the Confession) and then spend months, I mean months, trying to get through it. I ended up selling back The Count and only finished Devil because I had to for book club. Now I love a good mystery - as a matter of fact that might be my favorite genre. So why can't I get into the true crimes?
I think the bottom line is that no matter how I swing it, I'm just not a nonfiction girl. I appreciate it and when my mom tells me about her books or sends me a review for the site on a nonfic, I get really into the story. But when I try one on my own I just can't stay focused.
Is there anybody out there that feels my pain on this one?!
